RMC Alumna Becomes President of Rush Medical Staff

Rush alumna Catherine Dimou, MD 1991, became president of the Medical Staff of Rush University Medical Center effective July 1.

In conjunction with this role, Dimou has been elected as an annual trustee to Rush's Board of Trustees and will represent the Medical Staff on the Board's Executive Committee.

Dimou is chief medical officer of Rush Health, the physician-hospital organization at the Medical Center, and associate chief medical officer for clinical affairs at Rush.

She says her instructors at Rush Medical College helped her develop the leadership skills that have proven instrumental in these roles.

"When I was a Rush Medical College student, I had many great models for leadership, including Drs. Alex Doolas, Alan Harris and Larry Goodman. These doctors and so many others taught us not only about physicianship but about leadership as well," Dimou said.

Dimou's role on the Medical Staff will include monitoring quality of care as it relates to physicians, credentialing and privileging for physicians and scientists, and preparing the medical staff for move-in to Rush's new Tower hospital facility.
